Cos d'Estournel sits at the top of St-Estèphe, a commune better known for its rusticity than its glamour, yet this pagoda-topped estate has spent two centuries proving the exception.

The 2019 is a blend built on Cabernet Sauvignon with a generous seam of Merlot, grown on the gravel ridges that face Château Lafite across the Jalle du Breuil stream. It has the structure St-Estèphe is famous for, but none of the hard edges that once gave the appellation a reputation for stubbornness.
