Pomerol doesn't go in for grand classifications or showy châteaux, which rather suits a property like L'Evangile, tucked against the Pomerol plateau with Pétrus as a neighbour and no need to shout about it.
The 2019 is a gorgeous example of what this corner of the Right Bank does so well: Merlot-led, Cabernet Franc-stiffened, built on a seam of blue clay that gives both richness and backbone. It was a near-perfect growing season, and you can taste the ease of it.
