Trinité Estate Acaibo 2019 is a polished and vibrant Bordeaux-style blend from Sonoma’s Chalk Hill AVA.
The estate itself is a fascinating story; Trinité Estate was founded by Claire and Gonzague Lurton, members of the famous Bordeaux winemaking family behind properties like Château Durfort-Vivens and Château Climens. Drawn to Sonoma for its unique terroir, they established Trinité in the Chalk Hill area, where volcanic soils and cooling breezes from the Russian River create ideal conditions for Bordeaux varieties. Acaibo is the flagship wine, embodying the Lurtons’ philosophy of bringing Bordeaux sensibility to California sunshine.
What the critics say:
"Deep ruby. Complex aromas of fresh forest berries, ripe cherries, a hint of violet, layered delicately with toasted vanilla and dark cocoa. An astonishing purity of flavour and aroma. The structure is precise, the tannins velvety with plenty of length. Grown on 10 hectares located at 228 meters on soils of volcanic ash and clay. Another successful vintage from Claire and Gonzague Lurton. 70% new French oak for ageing."
"Amazing fruit purity - this is clean and crystalline, blackcurrants and plum, with massy tannins that fill the mouth and give this a round body and bouncy structure. Full of ripe fruit, but cool and not heated, freshness is there as is a refreshing, mineral, wet stone finish. This is a really great wine with such finesse and purity, long length and lifted body. There's a touch of heat and spice that still needs to settle but this will be delicious. Acaido is really developing a lovely signature with great consistency."
"This is firm and structured with focus and precision. Medium- to full-bodied with ripe but fresh dark berries, cocoa and dried orange peel. Very attractive mineral undertone that gives tension on the mid-palate. Crushed stones and wet soil. Firm, tightly wound tannins. Elegance to this. 88% cabernet sauvignon, 9% merlot and 3% cabernet franc. Try after 2026, but already very drinkable."
