Collection: 95-point Rioja for under £22 a bottle – The (Viña) Real Deal

Few regions can compete with Rioja when it comes to value for money, and the latest 2018 release of CVNE's Viña Real Gran Reserva is as good as it gets. From a fresher, cooler vintage, perfect for Rioja lovers, with 95 points from the Wine Advocate and a number of cases due to arrive in time for Christmas, at just £130 per case of six in bond? Good luck beating that!
  
A real stalwart of Rioja, Viña Real is sourced from a selection of small, south-facing parcels of old vines, all between 500 and 650m altitude. The team were especially delighted with the cooler 2018 vintage, designating the wine as Gran Reserva "Especial". We tasted a bottle ahead of the general release and boy is it a cracker. Some initial richness and structure yet opening up quickly, with gorgeous red fruit, a hint of balsamic & dried herbs, saddle leather and bay leaf. This is really impressive and just superb value. 
 
The cherry on top is that with generous support from the estate, in 2026 we will be hosting the first ten online 2+ case (or 2+ large format bottles) buyers, and a guest, for a totally free CVNE tasting in London.
