"This is major news for an emerging region… having the Catena team arriving in Gredos is something big…This is a new name to keep on your radars, chaps!”
Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

2023 sees the first premium releases of El Reventón – Adrianna Catena's brand-new project in Gredos, Spain, with some top scores (95-96 points) from Tim Atkin and James Suckling.

El Reventón, one of the top single vineyard wines from Commando G, set up by Landi and Fernando García in 2008, is a single-hectare plot of biodynamically-farmed, vines planted in 1943 and 1945 on a rare plateau of slate-rich soils.  The last vintage from the previous owners cost £150 a bottle but the new owners, who count 100-point wines amongst their achievements, are modestly introducing their first vintage from the vineyard for less than half this price.  We think now is the perfect time to jump in and grab cases before the wine’s likely upward repositioning in a couple of vintage’s time. San Gregorio, from 55-year old vines in the granitic soils of El Tiemblo, is another stunner and showing more hedonistically than the brooding El Reventón right now.  Lastly La Reina Cru Artesano offers exceptional value at just £50 a bottle.

It’s very rare the opportunity comes along to buy the first vintages from a new enterprise with the history and potential of El Reventón, and an A+ grade winemaking team, based on a cult vineyard that under previous owners sold for twice the price!  Did we mention the wines are gorgeous?
