Each year, Krug blends over 150 reserve wines from more than 10 vintages to capture the depth and elegance of the house style. The new 173ème Édition is made from 150 wines across 13 years (2001–2017), with 44% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay, and 22% Meunier—31% of which are reserve wines. Aged for at least 7 years in the cellar, it’s ready to enjoy now or can be cellared for added complexity.

Built around the 2017 vintage, the blend is lifted by standout reserve wines—elegant Chardonnays from 2014 and 2011, vibrant older Pinots, and structured Meunier from 2016. Galloni awarded it 95 points, while Robert Parker’s Champagne critic Kristaps Karklins gave it 94, calling it “broader and more giving” than the previous edition.

Also just released is Krug’s 29ème Rosé, a blend of 29 wines from five vintages, spanning 2010 to 2017. As with the Grande Cuvée, each component was chosen through blind tastings by Krug’s expert panel. The blend is 44% Pinot Noir (including 11% red wine for colour and structure), 34% Chardonnay, and 22% Meunier, with 33% reserve wines adding depth. First made in 1976, Krug Rosé remains one of Champagne’s most age-worthy and distinctive expressions.

Both come recommended and would be wonderful additions to any Champagne cellar.
