Our second Tuscan Syndicate brings something truly special: Castello di Ama L’Apparita 2020. Antonio Galloni awarded it 99 points, calling it “spectacular” and one of the very best Apparitas ever — in fact, his 2nd highest-rated Italian wine of the vintage.
Planted by Marco Pallanti on mineral-rich blue clay at the very top of the Bellavista estate, L’Apparita is Tuscany’s first and most celebrated 100% Merlot. It even outscored Masseto in recent years — at around a third of the price. Normally just over 1,000 cases are made, but with 2020’s generous crop owner Lorenza Sebasti has put aside a special allocation exclusively for syndicate members.
Alongside the wine, members enjoy personalised labels, a choice of large formats, and complimentary experiences: a vineyard & art tour, wine-paired lunch or dinner for two at Ama’s Il Ristoro, plus half-price stays in the newly restored suites at Villa Ricucci (worth c. €700).

What the critics say:
"The 2020 L'Apparita will soon take its place among the great Apparitas. Unctuous and layered in the glass, the 2020 possesses exceptional balance and tons of character right out of the gate. Exotic scents of blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, licorice and smoke are so alluring. Imposing tannins need time to soften, but once that happens readers will be treated to a spectacular Apparita that captures all the best the vintage had to offer. Marco Pallanti waited until mid-September (late for the year) to bring in this fruit. That decision paid off handsomely."
