The 2023 Domaine Samuel Billaud Chablis is wonderfully pure and expressive, brimming with zesty citrus, crisp green apple, and delicate white flowers. True to Billaud’s hallmark style, there’s a striking mineral backbone that gives both freshness and finesse. Lithe and balanced, with bright acidity carrying through to a clean, saline finish, it’s a textbook Chablis that captures precision and elegance in equal measure.

The Billaud family, one of the oldest winemaking clans in Chablis, has been synonymous with the region's winemaking heritage for generations.

Samuel Billaud's commitment to biodiversity in his soils enhances the typicity and quality of his wines. His dedication to sustainability, combined with his respect for terroir, results in Chablis wines that are a true reflection of their origin.

What the critics say:

92/100Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

"There is a great purity to the aromas of nectarine and lemon peel in the delicious village Chablis from Samuel Billaud. It's lively and fresh, with a tension that carries the wine to a lingering finish. The grapes are from three parcels: two on the left bank – Pargues near Préhy) and the back side of the Montmains slope – and on the right bank, vines at the base of Montée de Tonnerre. They represent 5ha in total: 2ha domaine and 3ha purchased fruit."

90-92/100Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

"A blend of Samuel’s three excellent terroirs, Les Pargues, Cartes-Fontenottes, and Bas de Chapelot. Pale colour. A very classic nose, not too pungently marine, with a depth of fruit, clean clear cut white fruit with a real crispness to finish. The lees work is exemplary."

OUR GROWERS

Samuel Billaud

Samuel Billaud didn’t just grow into his own - he built his house. After two decades crafting wines at the family estate Billaud-Simon, Samuel struck out solo in 2009, and today, his domaine spans about eight hectares in Chablis, plus meticulously chosen fruit from top growers across both Premier and Grand Cru sites.
