Optimal drinking window: Now - 2045
In their youth, Château Musar Reds are dense and expressive, filled with rich, sun-baked fruit flavours - plums, damsons, cranberries, cherries, figs, and dates. Cabernet Sauvignon contributes depth and structure, while Cinsault and Carignan bring floral lift, spice, and Mediterranean warmth.
Each vintage has its own personality, yet the style remains unmistakably Musar: perfumed, vibrant, and layered with the kind of character that only Lebanon’s dramatic landscape can produce.
Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, Château Musar sits in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley and has remained family-owned for three generations. The estate has become a symbol of Lebanon’s winemaking heritage, blending time-honoured techniques with a deep respect for its unique terroir. Its red blend, first made in 1959, is now the winery’s hallmark — famed for its remarkable longevity and ability to evolve beautifully over decades.
What the critics say:
"Bright crimson. Heady and beguiling with a gamey note on the nose. Very sweet and young and well balanced on the palate. No hurry at all to drink this youthful ferment. Very tight, dry wine that is so much younger than any other vintage tasted. SO much more youthful than a bordeaux 2008!"
