We have had the pleasure of hosting Tatiana from Bibi Graetz for a tasting of the new vintages of Testamatta and Colore, and both are absolutely singing. The highly sought-after Colore 2023 is every bit the masterpiece we hoped for, sporting 100 points from Jane Anson, whilst the perennial favourite Testamatta continues to show why it’s so adored by our Club Members.

Since his 2006 vintage received 98 points from Robert Parker, maverick winemaker Bibi Graetz has become one of the brightest stars of the new Tuscan wave. Working with old-vine Sangiovese (some over 80 years old) across Tuscany, and with barely a whisper of new oak, Bibi crafts wines of remarkable purity, perfume and precision, a far cry from the heavy-handed styles of old. Sourced from five high-altitude 100% Sangiovese vineyards, Testamatta is Sangiovese for Burgundy lovers — graceful, layered and endlessly expressive. Colore, meanwhile, is drawn from just three ancient sites (the oldest vines in Lamole are over 135 years old, producing pitifully low yields) and has achieved a perfect score from Jane Anson.

With yields down significantly in 2023, we’re thrilled to have a limited number of cases available to buy online, so don’t hang about if you’d like to get your hands on these Tuscan icons.
