Meet the Winemaker: Fanciulle with Jem Macy

We have long been a fan of Jem Macy and her elegant Burgundian-style Tuscan wines, and were excited to announce an exclusive private event, hosted by the winemaker herself.

Jem loves Burgundy but when she realised how expensive it was to re-stock the cellar with favourite domaines, determined instead to try making Sangiovese in a more Burgundian style than she had tasted previously.

Her mission has been to identify and vinify sustainably grown fruit from individual, old vine Sangiovese sites across Tuscany - from north and South Chianti Classico to Montalcino and Montepulciano. Focusing on freshness and finesse, and perfumed, supple fruit that transmits individual terroirs, has resulted in a really charming, appealing set of wines, with ABV @ 12.5-13.5% and oak thoroughly integrated. All four cuvées had their admirers on the night.

With production in the hundreds of bottles, these are truly artisan wines - do get your order in and see what the fuss is about.
