Arguably Italy’s most high profile wine consultant, amongst his many clients, Ferrini works on San Leonardo, Siepi, and Castello di Romitorio, all firm favourites of Honest Grapes so it should come as no surprise that we are excited about his first solo venture, nor that the quality is outstanding, especially as over the years he has worked for half a dozen different growers in Montalcino. Named for his parents Giovanna and Donatello, Ferrini’s 6ha of vineyards, which enjoy an elevated position at 300-400m above sea level situated between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant’Antimo, are planted with low yielding Sangiovese Grosso clones that produce loose bunches of small, thick-skinned berries – perfect for producing textbook aromas and flavours…and then some!
97 points, Monica Larner, The Wine Adcovate
"This wine was tasted in a preview capacity as it won't hit the market until the beginning of next year. Tasted at the Giodo winery in one of the most remote and beautiful spots in the appellation surrounded by forests and wide open panoramas, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino gives us a promising taste of what we can expect from this warm vintage. The wine delivers ripe, but delicate aromas of cassis and dark cherry with shades of lilac, violet and crushed limestone."
