Last night I had the privilege of tasting Zuccardi’s brand-new 2021 releases with Sebastián Zuccardi himself – and I can honestly say they are some of the most thrilling wines I’ve had this year, carrying a purity and energy that defines the greatest high-altitude Malbecs from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, widely regarded as Argentina's true Grand Cru (Tim Atkin). The 2021s also offer incredible value, and I’m thrilled to offer a handful of cases of them.
In his high altitude sites, profoundly influenced by the Andes, Sebastián aims to unmask Malbec, proffering wines which express purity and transparency: “They are made in the bones, not the flesh” and so he seeks texture and tension rather than richness and sweetness, preferring a blue fruit profile, as believes black is over ripe, red is too fruity. The wines seek to transmit energy and electricity, avoiding sweetness, and keeping the tension from the attack to the finish.
These wines are produced in tiny volumes (for example just a few 1,000 bottles of the Piedra Infinita single vineyard bottlings), so if interested please buy yours online or let us know as soon as possible!
Available for shipping in spring, 2026.
