Down in Pouilly-Fuissé, we are pleased to report that volumes did not suffer anywhere near as much as they did in the Côte d'Or. More importantly though, the wines were so impressive that we would go so far as to call this the ‘star appellation of the vintage’ - the first time we have said such a thing in our decades of tasting Burgundy from barrel. There was a fruit intensity married to a real tension that made the wines absolutely irresistible.

"From tank, this shows impressive clarity and lift. The vineyard moves from limestone at the top into marl and then clay lower down, and the wine reflects that sense of layered structure. Despite being raised in 95% new oak, the barrels are only lightly toasted, allowing the fruit to shine. Ripe, juicy notes of gooseberry come through with vibrant acidity, giving both tension and generosity. Long and pure on the finish, with excellent persistence."

The beautiful 'Le Clos' vineyard runs up the slope from the Château itself, with clay near the winery, then marl and finally limestone as you climb further up the hill. Each sub-plot is vinified separately, and the resulting wine in 2024 is an explosive combination of ripe gooseberry fruit and electric freshness that leaps from the glass.
