Château d’Esclans’ Rock Angel 2021 takes Provence rosé up a notch. It’s made mostly from Grenache, with some Rolle (Vermentino) and a few other local varieties, giving it more depth and structure than your typical pale pink.
Expect fresh red berry and citrus aromas, with a touch of peach and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate it’s crisp and vibrant, yet has a little more weight and texture than Whispering Angel, making it just as good with food as it is on its own. Perfect for summer evenings, grilled seafood, or even roast chicken.
What the critics say:
"A very pure and incisive nose, with refined mineral chalkiness to the fresh strawberry and grapefruit aromas. Again, pure is the word to describe the linear, dry palate, which delivers crisp yet textured acidity, together with elegant, freshly chopped raspberries and strawberries. A truly outstanding rosé here! Drink now."
"Bottled just a week prior to my April visit, the 2021 Cotes de Provence Rosé Rock Angel was still showing well. Scents of toasty oak and vanilla accent tangerine and peach on the nose, giving this medium-bodied rosé an almost creamsicle-like aspect. Generous, silky and long, it might be even better later this year."
