The Marienburg Felsterrasse GG comes from a dramatic, narrow, terraced section of the Marienburg vineyard, carved directly into the steep south-facing slopes above the Mosel. Here the soils are dominated by hard grey slate, a dense, compact rock that retains heat during the day but cools quickly at night. It’s also where you’ll find the estate’s other crown jewel, the Raffes.
Clemens and his wife Rita are a humble yet hugely respected duo, having built a cult following over the past 30 years for their incredibly precise, richly textured, and terroir-driven wines.
Since 2015, they’ve been part of Respekt, a group of biodynamic winemakers. But Clemens has been ahead of the game for decades; he ditched herbicides back in 1976 and embraced organic viticulture long before it became mainstream. Nowhere else is the connection between vine, winemaker, and terroir so perfectly expressed - we’ve yet to find Rieslings quite like these.
