Bright red berry fruit layered with subtle spice, earth, and a touch of saline minerality, it shows supple, finely woven tannins and punchy acidity that keeps the palate fresh and precise. There's a silky, almost effortless charm here, with enough structure to reward a few more years in the cellar, but it's already wonderfully approachable. A brilliant Gevrey-Chambertin.
5th generation winemaker Pierre Duroché needs no introduction these days, having been propelled into the very front ranks of Burgundy’s most sought-after growers. Wines with incredible purity of fruit, racy minerality, and no shortage of tension, vibrancy and energy. His top wines have received more than a few perfect scores – a rarity in Burgundy – and unsurprisingly demand dwarves supply, so much so that our only complaint with Duroché is that there never is enough wine!
What the critics say:
"Rich purple colour. The blended Gevrey displays a racy, high quality, ripe but fresh bouquet, with dark raspberry fruit. Sweetly oaked, and there is some lively fruit behind, soft but balanced and with very good length. Tasted Nov 2020."
