The 2015 Barbaresco from Produttori del Barbaresco is a textbook expression of Nebbiolo in a generous vintage.
The wine opens with aromas of ripe red cherry, plum, dried rose petals, and a touch of licorice. Subtle notes of leather, tobacco, and spice emerge with air, reflecting Nebbiolo’s layered complexity. Medium to full-bodied, it has silky tannins, bright acidity, and a long finish marked by mineral and savoury undertones. A Barbaresco that will shine alongside rich Italian dishes - think braised beef short ribs, wild mushroom risotto, or tajarin pasta with white truffle. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino.
Founded in 1958, Produttori del Barbaresco is one of Italy’s most respected cooperatives, uniting around 50 small growers under a shared commitment to quality. The winery produces classic, terroir-driven Nebbiolo across its range, from the benchmark Barbaresco DOCG to celebrated single-vineyard Riservas. "I tasted this wine after bottling but before its commercial release. The 2015 Barbaresco will hit the market on September 1st. It was scheduled to be released in October, but because Produttori del Barbaresco is already out of stock of the 2014 Barbaresco, they decided to move this release up and shorten waiting times. I mention that because you definitely don't want to pop the cork too early. The 2015 vintage opens to a visibly darker color and thicker concentration compared to recent past vintages. Next to the upcoming 2016 and 2017 editions, we can expect 2015 to be the most fruit-forward of the three. You get dark tones of plum and blackberry with dry tannins at the rear."
