Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, Champ-Gain, Domaine Etienne Sauzet, 2018
Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, Champ-Gain, Domaine Etienne Sauzet, 2018
- White Still
- Chardonnay
Domaine Etienne Sauzet, located in Puligny-Montrachet, is one of Burgundy’s most esteemed estates. Established in the early 20th century, it has a well-earned reputation for crafting wines that exemplify purity, precision, and terroir-driven character. The Champ-Gain vineyard is a Premier Cru site situated on the higher slopes of Puligny-Montrachet, benefiting from excellent exposure and cooling breezes.
Medium to full-bodied, Sauzet's Champ-Gain holds a striking balance between richness and tension, a Premier Cru that will pair exceptionally well with butter-poached lobster or scallops, roast chicken, or white fish in a beurre blanc or citrus-based sauce.
Optimal drinking window: Now - 2032
What the critics say:
"Very intense, linear white with apple, mango and pie-crust character to the crushed stones. It’s full-bodied with a compact palate that is tightened down, providing presence and focus. Energy, too. Serious white. Drinkable now, but better after 2021."
