Brigaldara’s Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2019 is a masterclass in balance and poise. The estate sits at the entrance to the Marano Valley, where carefully selected bunches, sparse and perfectly exposed, are harvested and left to dry for roughly 120 days. The process concentrates flavour and character, before a slow vinification draws out every ounce of richness from the skins. The wine then rests in large oak barrels for around three years, deepening its complexity while preserving its freshness.

The result is archetypal Amarone: full-bodied yet controlled, it glides across the palate with warmth and grace, its power tethered by a fine, savoury tension.

Brigaldara, owned and run by the Cesari family since 1929, has become one of the region’s true reference points. Their approach is classic, never showy - precision in the vineyard, restraint in the cellar, and a clear focus on the integrity of fruit and place.

What the critics say:

95/100Eric Guido, Vinous

"The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is intense, with a savory bouquet that mixes cherry and plum sauce with grilled herbs, hints of camphor and crushed stone. Opulent through its vividly ripe fruit yet expertly balanced by zesty acidity, the 2019 races across the palate with sleek textural waves, leaving a tinge of balsamic spice and saline mineral tones in its wake. This finishes with tremendous length and a pleasant bitterness that puckers the cheeks. Fine-grained tannins add a crunchy sensation. This is simply fantastic and comes in at just 1.8 grams of residual sugar."
